0 The Rowdyman Deres too goddam many Roys (and final scene)The classic “Too many Roy’s” scene from Gordon Pinsent’s 1972 film The Rowdyman.

The Rowdyman
(Canada, 1972; Director: Peter Carter; 95 minutes)
Written by and starring Gordon Pinsent in a larger-than-life performance, this 1972 classic gave cause for hope to an indigenous cinema based on people and landscapes recognizable to Canadians as their own. The Rowdyman was one of the most important English-Canadian films of the seventies, made when the feature film business was just getting underway in a meaningful fashion. This wonderfully energetic and appealing film reaches beyond its modesty to strike a chord that still resonates today. ”
