Do you know the name of this play?

Filed under: Newfoundland Scene — admin @ 10:57 am

When i was in Newfoundland (like, Canada :P ) in Grade 10, we got one of those textbook anthologies teachers always make you read- you know, with the poems, short stories, essays, short plays. It may or may not have been an Echoes book. There was one play in it that was really creepy. It was about a kid who is stressing about a test and basically starts seeing stuff… people holding up signs with all the answers etc… at different points throughout it there are people passing stuff to each other and saying "this is a ____" (and then the next person would say) "a what?" "a _____" (with the name of the item obv. you know the game right?). well at the end the kid wakes up from the classroom (which has turned nightmarish) and his mom tells him he’s fallen asleep and he should get up for school, he has a test today, but then she fades out and the whole scene comes back. anyway i cant for the life of me remember the name, and somehow i need to find the script. i am completely lost. PLEASE, at least tell me if it rings a bell… DX

*PS. there was another creepy play in the book about a girl who is chased into an abandoned bus station by somebody who wants to kill her or something, and then a nice man comes in and sits down and talks to her, and well to ruin that plot for you ends up being the same person who wanted to kill her (or whatever). i dont need the name of that one.. but if it jogs your memory at all….. lol? T_T

This is a Test by Stephen Gregg!! :)

Held in beautiful Bannerman Park, it attracts visitors by the thousands and diverse, world-class artists from far and wide. As one of the continent’s oldest running musical festivals it embodies the absolute best of folk and Celtic culture: dancing, performance, arts, crafts, food and, of course, truly great music.

How did World War 1 effect Newfoundland and its eventual collapse?

Filed under: Newfoundland — admin @ 11:29 pm

I’m writing about the collapse of Newfoundland and its entry into Canada. I was wondering how World War 1 and more specifically the battle of somme played a role in this.

I would think you first need to defend your premise of the collapse of Newfoundland and go on from there.
