I am getting married in Newfoundland, Canada. I live in Alberta and have no idea how much people usually pay out for a wedding in Newfoundland. Please help i need to set a budget.
I am in Ontario, Canada and can give you a rough idea based on my budget:
Really depends on the number of people:
Guessing about 150 guests:
Dress: $600 (if you find a quasi good deal- I paid $50)
Veil, shoes, jewelery etc- $300 (my veil was $120 and my shoes were $20)
Officiant- $300
Wedding license- $50
Flowers and decor- $600-$1200 (do you want BM bouqets? Floral Centerpieces? how big a bouquet for you- we did non-floral centerpieces and hair clips for the BMs and got it down to about $600 including the centerpieces and decor)
Meal- Full sit-down dinner about $40 per guest $6000
Buffet dinner- $20-30 (averaged at $25) $3750
Open bar?- I would guess $40 per guest- but not sure- our reception is in our parents backyard so we are buying $1400 worth of alcohol for 200 guests. Much cheaper if you can… if not about another $6000
Rings- $1000 or as cheap as $200- depends what you chose
Invitations, postage, RSVPs make your own- $400, buy $600-$1200
Grooms tux- $60-$120
Photographer $800-5000
DJ- $600
Cake- $200-600
We are spending $8,000 for 200 people. We are renting a tent for my parents backyard and getting married in a municipal park. We are having the ceremony at 7:00 so we don’t have to serve dinner- appetizers and beef/turkey on a bun later at night, my parents make their own wine, we bought peacock feathers for the centerpieces and decor from a local peacock owner for $.50 each. My mom is making our cake. There are lots of ways to keep cost down if you look for them
Recorded at the Arts and Culture Centre, St. John’s, Newfoundland, circa 1991. If anyone has any information on this man, or where he was from, please let me know.

I own a newfoundland 9 months old and get for present a westie but don’t know if they will get along ok.
Even if the Newfoundland isn’t aggressive at all, the Westie could still be seriously injured if the much larger dog isn’t watching where it’s going or is playing too roughly. Your Newfoundland may love the Westie as a brother, but you should still moniter them together to make sure that the Newfoundland doesn’t accidentally injure the smaller dog.
